and it seems like summer has finally arrived. Meanwhile, I’m sick. It’s noisy outside because “Raincouver” is suddenly a fun city again, and the streets are buzzing. I am lying in bed at 3 pm with shooting pains through my body, a stuffy nose, and a ruby-red sore throat. I hold my phone screen in front of my face, scrolling until my brain melts.

Melting… That reminds me of a band guaranteed to melt faces. I look them up and realize I haven’t seen their latest posts, probably because my algorithm sucked me into those “tic-stupid-tocs” and reels about socio-economic chaos and a war machine that my brain loves to self induce anxiety.

I pause. I observe carefully and, yup. They are playing at the Rickshaw Theatre… tonight. Damn, I’m so sick.

I go to watch the video for “Ice Cold,” the first single from the 2026 self-titled third album by Brass Camel. Their music just hits the spot. It is theatrical and gritty, with surreal undertones reminiscent of Pink Floyd and a sprinkle of Queen. Except they are entirely their own thing, blending progressive funk with jazz tempos and 80’s metal power chords. Committed to their craft for more than five years, Brass Camel will blow your mind and make your body move in ways you didn’t know it could. I’m sad I won’t be able to see them live tonight, but after hearing them, I don’t feel quite so sick anymore.
