A New Pulse in the City
While Vancouver has no shortage of Latin nights filled with reggaeton and salsa, a new movement is emerging for those seeking a deeper connection to the music. La Cuadra Live has arrived as a “Raw Session” concept, turning the spotlight away from the dance floor and onto the craft of the singer-songwriter.
The “Raw Session” Philosophy
The concept is simple but powerful: strip away the loud production and let the artist speak. Inspired by the intimate vibe of Tiny Desk and global “Unplugged” sessions, La Cuadra Live provides a platform for Ibero-American artists in British Columbia to share the stories behind their songs.
“It’s not just a concert; it’s a conversation between the artist and the community.”
What Makes It Different?
- The Listening Room: Hosted at venues like Mangos Kitchen Bar, the space is transformed into a seated, attentive environment.
- Cultural Curation: The series focuses specifically on the diverse sounds of the Latin diaspora, from Argentine folk to contemporary indie-pop.
Spotlight: Vol. 2 with Paula Pazos

The next chapter of this series features Paula Pazos, a talented singer-songwriter from Buenos Aires. Known for her emotive vocals and poetic lyricism, her upcoming performance on April 19 at Mangos (1180 Howe St) is set to be a definitive example of what La Cuadra Live aims to achieve.
Why This Matters for Vancouver
For the local Latin community, La Cuadra Live represents more than just entertainment it’s a space for cultural preservation and artistic validation. By giving artists a stage where they are heard rather than just played as background music, the project is helping to mature the local scene and bridge the gap between emerging talent and a dedicated audience.
